A Ministry of Captain Gordon F. Nelson
Statement of Faith
“As it was in the days of Noe.” (Lk. 17:26) Just how was it in the days of Noah? Noah heard the voice of God to build a ship. I heard the voice of God tell me, “I give unto you a ship. You are to call it the Old Ship of Zion, and you are the Captain.”
This ship apparently was already built, therefore, unlike Noah’s. Also, this ship was more like our Navy ships because it had “government.” They ruled the ship two by two! Jesus continued speaking to me, “And you are to have the government that is aboard a ship.” The Captain and his Commander bring a ship safely into harbor. Hence, this ministry doesn’t condone the “one man show” taking place in present day Pentecostalism. These are absolute dictators in the house of God, many of whom have become “Judas goats” leading the sheep to slaughter by the World Council of Churches.
The hard part for me was identifying the water. Spiritual truth is revelation knowledge and believing His wisdom is far greater than man’s. God was giving me a riddle that the Lord knew I would figure out.
I asked the question many times, “Lord, where is the ship?”
First I pastored a church in Hayward, only to discover it was not the ship. I went on the radio out of Auburn, California, still seeking the answer to my question, “Lord, where is the ship?” Then I published the RiverBank News every month for seven, long years, which evolved into periodic mailing of the Captain’s Messages. Still my heart cried to God, “But Lord, where is the ship?” The Bible says, “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent.” (Num. 23:19)
Finally, God told me the ship was the Comforter whom Jesus promised to send. (Jn. 14:16-19) I was ecstatic that God finally revealed the ship right out of scripture! Of course, then the next question was, “Where is the rain?” The answer is religion—anything short of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with fire is religion! (Matt. 3:11) “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power (Gk.-dunamis, from which we derive the word dynamite) thereof: FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.” (2 Tim. 3:5) Noah closed the door of the ark on all the unbelieving (folks with religion).
Unbelievers have no religion. The unbelieving have a religion that is a far cry from the dunamis of scripture. “Ye shall receive power (same Greek word), after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you…” Without this anointing you have no authority to “…be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) In the parable of the ten virgins (Matt. 25:1-13) you either had oil, or “the door was shut.”
Religion and cults cannot save; only boarding the ship (the Comforter) to carry us all home. Do you know “the fearful, and unbelieving” are the first to be thrown into the lake of fire? (Rev. 21:8) These unbelieving are not unbelievers! Unbelievers are just plain sinners. The “unbelieving” are Christians with a religion who simply hang around THE DOOR (Jn. 10:9) and cannot go in to accept the real “stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence” (1 Pet. 2:8)--the Holy Ghost as God. “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Rom. 8:11) Without the Holy Ghost, you may make the second resurrection, but never the rapture of the church. (Matt. 25:1-13 - The parable of the ten virgins) If I don’t tell you, who will?
You chose Jesus out of a need! The Holy Ghost selects those whom He “hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.” (Eph. 1:4-14) “For many be called, but few chosen.” (Matt. 20:16)
Finally, after boarding a Pentecostal ship (your local church), you must learn to submit to “tutors (pastors) and governors (apostles).” (Gal. 4:2) If you can’t submit, you will grow up, “a wild ass used to the wilderness.” (Jer. 2:24)
I submitted to Dr. Bebe Patten for five years until I graduated as a “minister for eternity.” How long must one submit? “Until the time appointed of the father.” (Gal. 4:2) God doesn’t want you running about with the fire of the Holy Ghost as a wild ass of the wilderness.
Noah was 120 years building the ark. I have been working on this ship called Pentecostalism for over 60 years! God’s ship is already built and was sent to earth on the Day of Pentecost. But man has tampered with that ship, so that now we have an angry God on our hands over the desecration of His ship called “The Comforter.”
God sent a “rushing mighty wind” (Acts 2:2) to launch this ship. But a hurricane is coming from the Lord against those who have tampered with His Ship, The Comforter. “Behold, a whirlwind (Heb.-hurricane) of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: IN THE LATTER DAYS ye shall consider it perfectly.” (Jer. 23:19-20)
